Providing health care for the patients in this area is a combination of service, teaching and the fulfilment of a dream to be of service. I feel it is important to listen to each person's vision of health and work to integrate all pathways to support this vision. The healthy state is a multifaceted process involving the physical, mental ,emotional, and spiritual aspects of the individual. I see my role as being a resource and collaborator for each person as they consider decisions that will acheive their best health. I am truly honored and happy to serve this community in Western North Carolina.
Her Education:
As I graduated Saint Cecilia High School in Nashville ,TN, our principal handed our senior class an engraving with the words of Albert Schweitzer
"You will always have happiness if you seek and find how to serve." These words led me to complete a degree in Secondary Education and Chemistry at George Peabody College for Teachers and later Nursing. My graduate education at Vanderbilt also encouraged service in rural areas . Coming to Bryson City was a direct result of the influences during my education at Aquinas College and the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Past experiences that have helped in a rural practice were hospital based orthopedic , surgical trauma and general Emergency experiences at both Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Mission St Josephs in Asheville. I also had the privilege of serving at the Swain County Health Department for close to a decade.
Her Interests:
